The tide was coming in fast which made for great water movement. I found an interesting looking rock and set up my camera so the water flow would create nice leading lines to the setting sun. Camera settings: 14 -35mm lens at 14mm, f16, ISO 100, 1/2 sec shutter speed with a variable ND filter.

I was inspired to take this long (30 second) exposure by Italian photographer Attilio Ruffo who specializes in long exposures. Prior to going to Oregon in May, I watched one of his YouTube videos where he displayed several pictures of his work. One of them was Multnomah Falls. This is the result of me watching that video.

Even though there had been several cloudy nights in a row, I still went to the beach hoping for a nice colorful sunset. Even a cloudy day is a good day at the beach. High tide made for great water movement, and the texture of these rocks made for an interesting foreground element. If nothing else, I could do some good long exposure practice. About 5 minutes after the sunset time, the clouds parted slightly and gave this beautiful reddish glow, and fortunately I was ready. It was such a wonderfu

This is just one of the many photo op?s along the E Diamond Bar Rd in the Hualapai Indian reservation in north western Arizona. My brother, a former singing cowboy at a nearby dude ranch was showing us the area when we stumbled upon this setting. So many photo op?s, so little time. For those interested in exploring the area, E Diamond Bar Rd is located off of Pierce Ferry Rd (Hwy 25) between Dolan Springs and Meadview. Things are starting to heat up now, maybe it?s best to wait until late autu

Oso Creek Trail is one of my favorite places in Mission Viejo to spend time. There is so much to see and always plenty of things to take pictures of, natural and manmade. On this day I hiked the upper trail near the Senior Center and captured this image. Make time and take your camera to this area of the city. You?ll find plenty of things to photograph!

This shot was taken on my first day into this trip. My wife and I decided to spend Labor Day weekend in the mountains which was wonderful but also very busy which isn't the best for wildlife photography. However, I did come away with some good shots from my outing (mostly landscape) and this is by far one of my favorite. I love how the light is striking the deer's face while he is mostly shrouded in shadow. I took this with a Nikon 200-500mm @ 500, 1/160s, ISO 100 and f6.3. I shot this across th

Was out looking for anything to photograph on one my few days off from work. So I went to the plot of land where I deer hunt. Any wild flower that may still be in bloom, insects, things like that. Tons of grasshoppers everywhere and I came across this fella. I didn't realize he possibly had a wounded left wing until I processed the photos. No wonder he sat thru many different angles, exposures, and me getting up in his face and didn't offer to fly off. I saw the sky start to get some color after looking too overcast. I grabbed my gear and went down to the road behind where I live. I had gotten a few shots of the headlights going the other way and it was too much of a contrast with the sky. I got set up, with the camera low to the ground and got a couple test shots. Then shot this at 5 seconds.
